Georgetown Issues 'Rocky's Report' for April 26

April 26, 2012 – Hi everyone. I hope you are having a good week.

On Friday afternoon, Georgetown will celebrate an event on campus called Georgetown Day. This is the last day of classes for our students and the day is an annual celebration of our university community.

The event is centered on the Healy and Copley lawns, just inside the university gates at 37th and O Streets. Even though Georgetown Day is on our lawn, we know that large events on campus can also have an impact in the neighborhood, so we wanted you to be aware of this celebration.

Due to the number of students that will participate, we are adding some extra resources during the day. Our reimbursable detail and SNAP teams will be out. If you have any problems with noise or disturbances, please use our hotline at (202) 687-8413. We’ve got staff ready to assist us with any issues reported to the hotline.

There will be live bands and music on the lawn from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., so you may hear that in the neighborhood. Please use our hotline to report any issues. This past Friday night we had an event on our football field in the center of campus. This was an all-night event called “Relay for Life” and many of our students were involved. We received a noise complaint call to our hotline at 12:19 a.m. We were able to turn the sound system down.

We are working hard to make this a safe, responsible and fun celebration for our students.  Please use our hotline to let us know if there is something to report that we may not see.

That’s all for this week. Until next week – be safe!
