The 7-Eleven at 2617 P St., NW will remain closed until late September as workers construct a planned expansion into 2619 P St., NW, the former home of P Street Pictures.
"We wouldn't be able to operate that store in any capacity during the remodel," explained Margaret Chabris, a spokesperson for 7-Eleven.
The convenience store will absorb the former P Street Pictures space, growing to an estimated 2,500-3,000 square feet.
Nearby neighbors initially opposed the expansion plans. After 7-Eleven went back to the drawing board in November, the 24-hour convenience store came up with a design scheme and plan that the community was able to get behind.
Residents looking for a quick bite to eat or a snack still have other options in the neighborhood:
Safeway offers prepared and made-to-order sandwiches and a cool and hot beverage area, including a Starbucks. 1855 Wisconsin Ave., NW Open 24 hours.
