Georgetown's Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC2E) will meet tonight, Jan. 31 to address normal commission business; the Monday meeting comes less than two weeks after the special meeting on the GU Campus Plan. Monday's meeting will revolve around a few minor transportation issues, several Voluntary agreements with dining and bar establishments and another review of the proposed changes for the Georgetown Post Office building. 

Though the ANC had originally anticipated drafting a resolution at the Jan. 31 meeting, the GU plan will have to wait until February or March.

Transportation

As the District Department Of Transportation wraps up its work on the Thomas Jefferson Street bridge over the C&O Canal, the agency seeks ANC approval to make the street open to two-way traffic.

Another transportation-related issue involves the Safeway on Wisconsin Ave. Currently traffic leaving the south garage has a standard traffic light. The ANC will consider a proposed left-turn arrow for traffic exiting to Wisconsin Avenue from the south driveway at Safeway.

Alcohol and Voluntary Agreements

The ANC will consider three liquor licenses, though already in place, the commission may work with the establishments to negotiate a voluntary agreement to limit hours of operation among other issues.

Post Office

The ANC reviewed initial plans for the Georgetown Post Office at a previous meeting. Since that time Anthony Lanier and his architects hav gone before the Old Georgetown Board (OGB) for design refinements and review. The developer will return to the ANC for further review and comment prior to the upcoming meeting of the OGB.

The ANC2E meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m. at Visitation School.
