The Fillmore Arts Center has been hosted an art show for six years running. This year some 800 pieces of art were hung and displayed in the hallways and classrooms of the Fillmore Arts Center, which is in the same building as Hardy Middle School.
Katherine Latterner, the principal of Fillmore, said the art work took about 5 days to mount and hang on the walls in the now brightly colored hallway. The art was created by students in pre-K through fifth grade in classes run by five visual arts teachers.
Latterner said the art show came about to acknowledge the visual art of Fillmore students. After all there had always been dance recitals and concerts and theatre productions, why not an art show?
Parents and eager children filled the hallways Friday night, wandering among the students' work in categories like landscapes, digital art, abstract and more.
Children eagerly pointed to their personal masterpieces, posing for photos in front of them.
Parents and neighbors unable to make the Friday showing are welcome to stop by over the next week to view the art on their own time said Latterner.
