Original Post:

Metropolitan 2nd District police and the FBI are investigating an attempted robbery at an M&T bank in Georgetown.

According to Metropolitan Police spokesperson Araz Alali, police are investigating a second degree burglary at 1420 Wisconsin Ave., NW where a bank alarm was activated early Friday morning.

Police arrived on scene at the bank at 2:08 a.m. Alai said. The bank was closed and unoccupied. Alai told Patch that the suspect is believed to have gained entry to the bank through an adjacent building which is under construction.

"The attempted target was an ATM machine in the bank," said Alai, although no entry was made into the machine.

The neighboring building under construction is one of the few impacted by the Thanksgiving Day implosion.

I wonder if this the same knucklehead who broke into a bank on Conn.AV via a closed pizza place last week?
