In remembrance of those who have past before us, St. John's Episcopal Church is organizing a bagpipe procession on Christmas Eve through the streets of Georgetown.

This "new tradition" also draws upon Georgetown's Scottish roots. According to a brochure published by the church, "Dunbartonshire was a part of Georgetown where many a Scotsman and Scotswoman came to become citizens and to help build this great City & Nation!"

The bagpipe player will begin the procession at dusk at Oak Hill Cemetery on R Street. He will then travel down Wisconsin Avenue to O Street. The procession will end at St. John's Episcopal Church shortly after 5 p.m. A few Christmas songs will be played at the church at the end of the procession.
