Capella Sets a Date: March 22 is Opening Day

A new hotel at 1050 31st St. NW is accepting reservations starting March 22.

The Capella Hotel Georgetown is now officially accepting reservations for stays starting March 22 and onward. Most recently the hotel had expected to open April 1.

The hotel at 1050 31st St. NW is the first Capella brand hotel in the District.

The Grill Room and the Rye Bar, the hotel restaurant and bar respectively, will both also open March 22. Reservations are now being accepted for lunch and on.

The 70-seat Grill Room includes C&O Canal-side dining. Swedish Chef Jakob Esko comes to the Capella Georgetown from Capella Singapore and by way of Michelin–Star Restaurant ‘Sihlhalde’ in Zurich.

"The Grill Room and The Rye Bar are local venues and not a typical hotel restaurant or bar," Alex Obertop, the general manager, said in an email.

Locals are welcome to dine, but the rooftop and the "Capella Living Room" are for guests only.

The hotel's Facebook page has been full of sneak peek details about what guests can expect in both the hotel and its dining amenities.

In the Grill Room, for instance, guests will walk on hard wood floors that have been re-claimed from a European castle. In the "Capella Living Room" there is a two-story solid onyx fireplace. And there's a bar and infinity pool on the rooftop.
