Police are investigating a carjacking in Georgetown.

Updated 10:03 p.m.

Police were investigating a carjacking that ended with a crashed car at Q Street and Wisconsin Avenue, NW in Georgetown Tuesday afternoon and well into the evening.

According to Metropolitan Police Department Public Information Officer Hugh Carew, there were four juveniles involved in the incident and police have recovered the vehicle in question.

The car, a tan Nissan Altima with temporary Maryland plates, was loaded onto a tow truck. It appeared to have damage to the front driver's side near the tire.

A resident of 32nd Street told Patch that one of the suspects went through several backyards on the 1500 block of 32nd Street to avoid capture and even broke into a home to steal a coat to cover himself.

The MPD PIO has not confirmed reports that all four suspects have been arrested. Photos from a Patch contributor at the scene show at least one young male in handcuffs.

A Patch source at the scene said police were interviewing shop owners along Wisconsin Avenue between P and Q Streets, NW Tuesday afternoon as part of the investigation.

Patch will provide updates as more information becomes available.
