Construction to Close Sidewalk on Water Street

Repairs will improve the sidewalk between Wisconsin Avenue and 33rd Street.

For the next few weeks, drivers should be prepared for lane reductions and pedestrians for sidewalk closures on Water Street between Wisconsin Avenue and 33rd Street in Georgetown.

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) expects to begin work Aug. 22 and to continue working for 15 days. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

"The work will involve upgrading of the wheel chair ramps, repairs of concrete sidewalks and the repair of all curbs and gutters in the project area," according to a press release from DDOT.

During construction there will be single lane closures along the project area and curbside parking will be restricted.

DDOT has committed to providing access to adjacent properties throughout construction. Businesses along this section of sidewalk include Water Street Gym, Chadwicks and Georgetown Floorcoverings.
