Discovery Offers Mid-Morning Break for Georgetowners

The spaceship looped over the Washington metro area several times this morning.

Whether you were standing on a rooftop or waiting down by the waterfront, Georgetown proved a prime viewing spot to catch a glimpse of the space shuttle Discovery on Tuesday morning.

The aircraft, which was carried atop a Boeing 747, flew over the metro area several times before landing at Dulles International Airport. It will be transferred to its permanent home at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Dulles, Va.

It truly was an awesome sight to behold!
