ENO Wine Bar Coming to Four Seasons, Maybe

The Four Seasons Georgetown is in negotiations with Chicago-based ENO to bring the wine bar to D.C.

ENO, a wine bar started in Chicago, could open its first East Coast location in Georgetown at the if the two companies come to an agreement.

Though an agreement must not be too far away, since the Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission will review a revised design concept for a proposed wine bar space at the rear of the Four Seasons. The ANC agenda for Jan. 3, describes the project as a "rear addition with basement, window replacements, signs and awnings."

Scott Harney, a project manager for ENO, told Patch that the Four Seasons and ENO were still negotiating a few items and that nothing was finalized, but he hoped they could announce something "fairly soon."

"I would love to have one here [in DC]...we could do a lot of Virginia wines," said Harney who helped start the first ENO location in Chicago.

The wine bar features flights of three 3.5 oz glasses as well as an extensive wine-by-the-glass list. ENO also works to locally source many menu items, including wine. If Georgetown gets a location, expect cheeses from Virginia and Pennsylvania, as well as local charcuterie and chocolate for chocolate pairings.

Harney said the size of the locations vary—one Chicago location has 50 seats, but one California resort location has only a dozen.

He described the experience as casual and not snobby. He said their "wine geeks" (a.k.a. sommeliers) are happy to talk about the wine to create a relaxed and educational environment.

"But, if you just want a glass of wine we will happily do that too," said Harney.

Look for updates on the official announcement and a timeline soon.
