Fashion's Night Out Lights Up Georgetown

Shopping never felt so glamorous.

Last night, Georgetown shops welcomed D.C. Fashionistas for late night shopping as part of Fashion's Night Out

Organized by The Georgetown BID, over 60 retailers participated, many that hosted shoppers until 11:00 p.m., serving free champagne and offering special promotions.

Fashion's Night Out (FNO) raised money for Labels for Love, a local charity that raises funds for DC women's and children's organizations, founded by Mary Amons of Bravo's The Real Housewives of DC. Participating stores sold $10 eco-friendly tote bags with the FNO design and donated 100 percent of those proceeds to Labels for Love.

To celebrate Fashion's Night Out, a private kickoff party was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Roche Salon,Guests walked down a red carpet lined with extravagantly styled fashion models, styled by Salon owner Dennis Roche.

Jim Bracco, executive director of the Georgetown BID, addressed the guests at Roche Salon before letting them loose on the stores.

"I want to propose a toast to fashion," said Bracco, "it makes us look great and feel great."  Bracco also thanked everyone for coming, but hoped everyone would "get out of here and go up the avenue to shop."

Later in the night, a fashion show to benefit Cause-USA was held at the TD Bank.

Cause-USA is a non-profit organization that organizes programs that promote recreate and relaxation, such as free haircuts and massages, for members of the U.S. Armed Services who have been wounded while stationed in Afghanistan or Iraq.

Servicemen who have recovered from their injuries during combat walked the catwalk, donning looks from Hugo Boss. Sassanova and Urban Chic were also featured in the fashion show.

D.C.'s FNO also brought out people new to Georgetown's shopping district.

"The event's been fantastic. I moved to Georgetown  a couple of years ago but I haven't really shopped a lot in the area before tonight," said Dana Wooster. "The stores I went to were really welcoming and the sales associates were very approachable, I'll probably go back."

What was your favorite part of FNO? Did you do the bug dance? Tell us in the comments.

I loved seeing all the great looking and great dressed people of all ages and shapes walking on the street until 11 am. Proper Topper had a great panel of fashion reporters talking about new trends.
