Gas Line Ruptured During P Street Construction

Washington Gas crews are making repairs to a gas line on the 3300 block of P Street.

Construction workers struck a gas line mid-day Wednesdayduring the regularly scheduled construction for the O and P Streets project, according to Afis Idowu, a construction management consultant for the project.

A a team from DC Water hit the three-inch gas line was while replacing the private connection from a home to the main water line.

Washington Gas is now on the scene making repairs, which should be complete within the hour, according to Idowu.

The incident is common in such a large scale project on utlility lines, said Idowu.
