Gas Line Struck, Promptly Repaired

A contractor struck a gas line on Thomas Jefferson Street Monday; it was repaired the same day.

A Washington Gas line structure was struck by a DC Water* contractor operating a backhoe Monday at 1061 Thomas Jefferson St. around noon. The accident happened as part of the work crews are performing on the 29th Street bridge over the C&O Canal.

Ruben Rodriguez, the director of corporate communications for Washington Gas, said repairs have since been made. There are currently no outages, though 29th Street remains closed due to construction.

*The original post said it was a Water and Sewer Authority (WASA) contractor, however WASA no longer exists as an entity and is now known as DC Water.
