Georgetown 'Angels' Host Charity Raffle

Three businesswomen hosted events at their stores in Georgetown Park on Saturday to help raise money for Courage for Kids.

Kassie Rempel, Heidi Kallett and Stephanie Fornash Kennedy - all three business owners of boutique shops in The Shops at Georgetown Park - joined forces on Saturday to help raise money for Courage for Kids, a nonprofit group that donates school supplies and backpacks to rising kindergartners in Washington.

Rempel owns a shoe store, SimplySoles; Kallet owns a stationery and gift shop, The Dandelion Patch; and Fornash Kennedy owns a boutique clothing and jewelry store, Fornash. All three shops are located on the second level of mall on M Street.

They've dubbed themselves the Georgetown "Angels," a play on the popular 1970s show, "Charlie's Angels," because Rempel is red-headed, Kallett is blonde and Fornash Kennedy is a dark brunette. They hope the moniker will raise awareness of their business presence inside the mall, which, in recent years, has faced financial hardships.
