Georgetown Featured Alongside Paris, Rio in 'Airbnb Neighborhoods'

Online service Airbnb allows home owners and vacationers to connect and rent a space for a day, a month or more.

Airbnb, the "community marketplace for unique spaces," launched a new "Neighborhoods" guide that includes Georgetown in a list of international destinations, from Berlin to Paris to Rio de Janeiro.

The company launched the neighborhoods feature in response to users, who cited location as the most important factor in choosing a place to stay.

“Neighborhoods are the original communities. They are the keys to unlocking local culture and one-of-a-kind experiences,” said Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb in a press release. “By going deeper and tapping into local knowledge, we are introducing our community to a neighborhood’s personality so they can match it with their own.”

According to a blog post, the feature is a "tool that matched you with the neighborhood that's right for your trip."

Beautiful photographs, quotes from Airbnb hosts and other local information give potential guests a feel for the place they might spend their vacation, whether it is a long weekend or a month-long adventure.

Have you used Airbnb? Do you think they captured Georgetown well?

We use Airbnb when we travel now. Have stayed in apartments in Barcelona, Bogota, Medellin and Cartegna. What a great way to get to know a city!

I've never used it abroad, but you've inspired me to try next time we travel overseas. Thanks, Judy!
