Bring your school-aged children to the Georgetown Neighborhood Library for fun and learning with Science in the Summer. The program began in 1986 in the Greater Philadelphia area, where it is now in its 26^th year.

The week-long event aims to pique students' interest in science and science careers.

The program, sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), has served more than 100,000 children since its inception, according to a press release.

"Inquiry-based learning is especially important over the summer when many students may tend to lose ground academically," said Shirley Malcom, head of education and human resources at AAAS, in a prepared statement.

In the D.C.-area Science in the Summer will take place at 13 different D.C. Public Library locations, from June through August.

The Georgetown program will begin July 2-6. There will be no class on Wednesday, July 4.

Classes for 2nd and 3rd graders go from 2-3 p.m. For 4th, 5th and 6th graders, classes run from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
