Georgetown Waterfront Park Open At Last
The park on the Potomac has been many years in the making.
The Georgetown Waterfront Park officially opened to the public on Monday evening, after years of construction.
D.C. Councilman Jack Evans explained how the park had been several decades in the making. "Look at this place," Evans said. "This is a beautiful place for people from all over the city to enjoy."
About 100 people were enjoying it during the grand opening ceremony on Monday. Children splashed around in the new fountain. Dog walkers paused on the river steps.
Peggy O'Dell, the deputy director for operations at the National Park Service, thanked her predecessors for their diligence in helping make this park a reality.
"It is now an unbroken necklace of green along the Potomac," O'Dell said.

I would still like to see a Little League baseball park on the waterfront down near Key Bridge end. Home runs into the river! A great people draw. Something beside bike and walking paths. Maybe even Clyde's floating restaurant down there.
