Need ideas to get your weekend going? Look no further.

 

1. Family Fair at the Dumbarton House

Where/When: Dumbarton House, 2715 Q St. NW, Washington. Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: The Dumbarton House and Tudor Place - located a stone's throw from each other on Q Street in Georgetown - will be celebrating the end of summer (and the start of the new school year) with sweet treats, games and crafts.

Pricing: Adult tickets, $5. Children tickets, $8 for members, $10 for nonmembers.

2. Georgetown Group Runs

Where/When: Georgetown Running Co., 3401 M St. NW, Washington. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Why Go: New (school) year, new you! It's not too late to give up on those 2011 resolutions! Make plans to join this weekly running group if you're still trying to get in shape this summer.

Pricing: Free

3. Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival

Where/When: Rosslyn Gateway, 1911 Fort Myer Dr., Arlington. Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: If you've intended to make it to an outdoor movie this year, don't wait too much longer because there are only two more movies left in this summer-long outdoor film festival. This week, the Rosslyn Film Festival will feature "Night at the Roxbury," starring funnymen Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan. The movie is rated PG-13.

Pricing: Free

4. The Beach Boys at Wolf Trap

Where/When: Wolf Trap Filene Center, 1645 Trap Rd., Vienna. Sunday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: It doesn't get more summer-y than The Beach Boys. Before these warm days slip away from us altogether, get yourself out to Wolf Trap. You won't regret it!

Pricing: Tickets range in price from $25 to $38.

5. American Idols Live! Tour 2011

Where/When: Verizon Center, 601 F St. NW, Washington. Friday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: If you're an American Idol fan, then this is a must-see concert for you this weekend. The tour features the top 11 finalists in the singing competition, including winner Scotty McCreery.

Pricing: Tickets range in price from $45 to $65.
