Need ideas to get your weekend going? Look no further.

 

What happened last weekend? Irene blew through town. Here's to hoping for better weather this go-round. Happy Labor Day!

1. Mose Allison at Blues Alley Club

Where/When: Blues Alley Club, 1069 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington. Daily shows start at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Why Go: Jazz enthusiasts will flock to catch one of Mose Allison's live shows at the Blues Alley Club. According to the event listing, "His unique blend of jazz and blues, and his profound lyrical wit, mark Mose Allison as a true American original."

Pricing: Tickets are $25.

2. National Symphony Orchestra: Labor Day Capitol Concert

Where/When: U.S. Capitol West Lawn. Sunday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: The concert will begin with music from John Philip Sousa and will include performances by Mercedes Ellington, granddaughter of of jazz legend "Duke" Ellington. If you're feeling patriotic and in the mood for a free concert, make tracks to the Capitol on Sunday.

Pricing: Free - no tickets required!

3. Columbia Pike Farmers' Market

Where/When: Columbia Pike and S. Walter Reed Dr., Arlington. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pricing: Free to attend. Vendor prices vary.

4. Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets

Where/When: Nationals Park, 1500 South Capitol St., SE, Washington. Friday, 7:05 p.m. Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Sunday, 1:35 p.m. Monday, 1:05 p.m.

Why Go: You can get your fix of peanuts, Cracker Jacks at the ballpark this weekend. And with ticket prices starting at only $10, you may even have some cash leftover for a beer or two!

Pricing: Ticket prices start at $10.

5. First Saturday Civitan Garage Sale and Flea Market

Where/When: Washington-Lee High School, 1301 N. Stafford St., Arlington. Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Skip the mall and peruse this once-a-month flea market at your own pace.

Pricing: Vendor prices vary.
