1. Hoya Fall Neighborhood Picnic

Where/When: 3700 O St. NW, Washington, D.C. Saturday, 11 a.m.

Why Go: It may not be that Georgetown University and its surrounding neighbors can find much common ground, but a party is as good a reason as any, right? The University will be hosting a *free* fall neighborhood picnic on Saturday. All neighbors are welcome to attend. You can look forward to rilling, lawn games, acapella groups, raffles & giveaways.

Pricing: Free to attend.

2. Thai Village in Georgetown

Where/When: Embassy of Thailand, 1024 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. Saturday, noon.

Why Go: If you've always wanted to go to Thailand, but just can't seem to stomach the thought of an 18-hour plane ride, you're in luck. The Embassy of Thailand will be setting up a Thai Village right here in Georgetown this weekend. The event will feature several cultural performances as well as Thai food, drinks, beer and fruit.

Pricing: Proceeds raised though the event will be donated to Grace Church's charity efforts.

3. First Saturday Civitan Market

Where/When: Washington-Lee High School, 1301 N. Stafford St., Arlington. Saturday, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Skip the mall and peruse this once-a-month flea market at your own pace this Saturday.

Pricing: Open to all. Vendor prices vary.

4. Amen's Help the Homeless Mini-Walk

Where/When: 601 N. Vermont St., Arlington. Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why Go: Help prevent homelessness in Arlington by joining this charity walk on Sunday afternoon. It will be a great way to get to know your neighbors, spend some time outdoors and donate your hard-earned money for a worthy, local cause.

Pricing: Participation is $25 for youth (25 years and younger) and $30 for adults.

5. Italian Wine and Cheese Tasting

Where/When: Screwtop Wine Bar, 1025 N. Fillmore St., Arlington. Thursday, 6 p.m.

Why Go: Get your weeking going an evening early by stopping by Screwtop Wine Bar in Arlington. They're hosting this tasty event to benefit the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Twenty different wines and cheeses will be available for sampling. While you're at it, pick up a bottle of vino for a Friday night post-work week drink.

Pricing: Tickets are $19.99 per person.
