Guy Mason Dog Park Closing for Upgrade

The local park will closed beginning Oct. 15.

The Guy Mason dog park is getting an upgrade starting this weekend thanks to the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation. The park will close Oct. 15 and remain closed for the next six to eight weeks.

According to a posting on the Glover Park listserv:

"The length of the project is due to the other renovations happening at Guy Mason at the same time, such as improvements to the parking area. When all is said and done we'll see:

• New taller fencing!
• Fresh new mulch!
• A third bench!
• Running water!"

Earlier this year users of the ad hoc dog park organized as the Dogs of Guy Mason Alliance to formally register the dog park next to the baseball field at Guy Mason.

The group succeeded. DPR approved the application and once a memorandum of understanding is sign, it will be listed as an official dog park on the agency website. Even with the official status, community members are asked to help with maintenance at the site.
