A group of Hardy Middle School parents have identified a bevy of grants they would like to apply for on the school's behalf, but they need experienced grant writers to help.
A note posted to the Georgetown and Burleith Neighborhood list servs explains the importance of the grants effort:
"Two active Hardy Middle School parents that are well-known to the Georgetown community are spearheading a campaign to apply for grants for Hardy. But they can't do it without our help. If you would like to learn more about Hardy and help build up our neighborhood middle school at the same time, then this is the opportunity for you.
Marcio Duffles, the former Hyde PTA president who secured city funding for the Hyde gym, and Brian Cohen, Chair of the Glover Park ANC, both have children in Hardy in 6th grade. They are helping lead a Grants Committee at Hardy that has already identified 14 grants - now they need people to help write them.
All you need to do is meet with a Hardy teacher/administrator to learn about an envisioned program and write an application for an identified grant.
For those of you considering Hardy Middle School for your children in the future, and anyone concerned about our local middle school, this is a unique opportunity to learn more about our neighborhood middle school and make a real difference at the school.
Contact Marcio at firstname.lastname@example.org and Brian at email@example.com to learn more!"
Hardy Middle School (1819 35th St., NW) is the in-boundary school for children living in Georgetown, Burleith and Glover Park.
