Jack Evans Raises $143,000 Toward Reelection Bid
Evans is currently unchallenged in his bid to remain the Ward 2 Council member
Ward 2 Council member Jack Evans has already raised $143,030 toward his reelection bid for 2012. His expenditures total just under $62,000, leaving him with just about $81,000 cash on hand.
Evans secured just over $61,000 of his funds from 138 businesses, $1,250 from three Political Action Committees (PAC) and over $80,000 from nearly 200 individual donors.
The July 31st report released Tuesday shows Evans raking in $22,575 from Georgetown businesses and individuals, which account for nearly 16 percent all all donations and almost 24 percent of D.C.-based donations.
In Georgetown's 20007 zipcode, 41 individuals donated a total of $14,000, with the most common donation amount being $500. To date 20 Georgetown businesses have donated a total of $8,500, all but four donors in this category gave $500 each.
Evans also received funds from other jurisdictions, including $15,750 from Va. donors and $24,250 from Md.
He recently opened a campaign office on 14th Street in a property owned by Jim Abdo, of Abdo Development. According to finance reports, the campaign has made three payments of $8,750 each to Abdo since May 30, 2011 for "rental", presumably covering June, July and August rents.
