Actors, camera crews and a film trailer took over Rose Park for part of the morning Thursday. The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) was filming scenes for a new Washington Nationals promo.

MASN is a regional sports network owned by the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles that carries both Nats and Orioles games live.

A group of young boys in red, white and blue attire and Nats baseball hats were playing a game of pick-up baseball with their "dads" while the "moms" cheered them on. If not for the film crews with their cameras running along side the players, it might have been a typical afternoon at Rose Park.

David Dunning, Rose Park President, helped secure the park for MASN.

Eric Hunsaker the art director for the shoot (and erstwhile catcher in the baseball game) said the theme for the commercial is "your town, your team." The crew shot a few scenes at Nationals Stadium Wednesday night and are stopping by another ball field in Arlington, Va. later Thursday afternoon.

Look for the commercial this summer on MASN.

How great to see this article and the photos of Rose Park. I was a supervisor there beginning in the late 1970's. We had a special group of kids regularly participate in many activities including baseball. With the Senators tragically stolen away I took it upon myself to educate the younger folk on some of the storied Washington baseball players of the past. They loved it and so did I. I'm now in Arizona but always a Nats fan!
Go Nats !
Go Rose Park!
