Memorial Day 2013: Closures, Trash, Parking Enforcement and More

Trash collection and parking enforcement take a hiatus along with other government services.

Memorial Day, for many Washingtonians, means a three-day weekend and a short work week. With the Monday Federal holiday, comes suspended services at the local level as well.

Here's what you can expect in Georgetown on Memorial Day:

Trash Collection

Trash collection and street sweeping will be suspended for the holiday and will resume Tuesday. The Department of Public Works will make Tuesday and Friday trash collections on Wednesday and Saturday for Georgetown residents. Recyclables and yard waste will be collected on Saturday. For Burleith and Glover Park residents, who usually have their trash collected once a week on Thursdays, collection will happen Friday instead.

Parking Regulations

Parking regulations, including expired meters, residential parking, street sweeping and rush hour lane restrictions will be suspended Monday. The exception is the neighborhood around the Nationals Stadium, where parking regulations will be enforced.

Reversible Lane Operations

DDOT will not run reversible lane operations.
