Michaels Craft Store, T.J. Maxx Among Rumored Mall Tenants
Georgetown Park Mall has yet to announce any new tenants.
The Georgetown Park Mall continues to generate interest among larger retailers, but Vornado Realty Trust has yet to announce any new tenants. Rumored potential tenants include Bloomingdale's, Lord & Taylor, T.J. Maxx and Michaels, according to The Washington Post.
Bloomingdale's had previously expressed interest in opening a "Soho Concept" store in Georgetown prior to the mall's public auction several years ago that brought in Vornado Realty Trust and Angelo, Gordon & Co.
Ward 2 Councilman Jack Evans told The Post that Bloomingdale's would not require a tax incentive to come to Georgetown.
“They were excited about going to Georgetown Park and didn’t need TIF money,” Evans told the Post.
Most of the shops on the mall's interior have been asked to vacate, leaving the space dim and quiet since most departed in late 2011, early 2012.
At the July 2011 Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission meeting, representative for Vornado told commissioners that during conversations with several "high-end" retailers, a glazed facade to broadcast the store's presence was discussed.
The mall has been undergoing renovations in the retail space at the C&O Canal level, Wisconsin Avenue level, and M Street levels.

I think Target, Michaels and hopefully Chic-fil-a will come on board at Georgetown mall. Bloomingdales it too high end and there is enough of those stores here in GT. It would be so convenient to shop at these stores mentioned above, getting errands done at lunchtime.

Thanks for your comment. We'll have to play the waiting game for now to see who signs on. -SC
