New Art Gallery Coming to Upper Wisconsin Avenue

Heiner Contemporary will open in May at 1675 Wisconsin Ave.

Noticed that bright pink door at 1675 Wisconsin Ave. recently? The space formerly occupied by Carling Nichols Antiques will now be home to Heiner Contemporary, an art gallery that will feature emerging and mid-career artists.

The gallery, owned and directed by Margaret Heiner, will open May 20, 2011 with a solo exhibition by New York artist Elizabeth Huey.

"I want visitors to the gallery to feel the push-and-pull of the art displayed and to engage with the works on both a visual and emotional level," says Heiner. "We want to forge connections and foster dialogue between individuals and artists."
