Nike Seeks Storefront Changes and Sign Approval

The Nike store is coming to 3040 M St. where Barnes and Noble once stood.

Nike will go before the Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission and the Old Georgetown Board (OGB) the first week of April for review of planned storefront alterations and a new sign scheme. The retailer is opening its first D.C. location later this year in the space at 3040 M St. previously occupied by Barnes and Noble.

Nike has several factory stores in both Maryland and Virginia, but no NIKE or NIKETOWN stores.

In January, the Washington Post reported that Nike representatives had met with D.C. officials and expressed an interest in expanding in the D.C. region during a retail convention in Las Vega nearly a year ago.
