Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Claire Keller
Claire Keller is Georgetown Patch's Whiz Kid for Feb. 9.
Claire Keller, 8th Grade
Accomplishment: Claire won the school Geography Bee and was a Science Fair winner as well.
Key to Awesomeness: Claire Keller says her key to awesomeness is reading "anything I can get my hands on," though she's partial to Science Fiction. The eighth grader won the Geography Bee by correctly identifying the U.S. territory located in the Mariana Islands, Guam.
Keller also won at the science fair this year for her project on the LEGO Mindstorms NXT's reactions to color stimuli. She programmed the robot to sort different colored balls. Keller came up with the idea at space camp over the summer and used the science fair as an opportunity to test her idea. She'll be representing Hardy at both the District-wide Geography Bee and Science Fair.
