Pet Adoption Drive on Georgetown Waterfront at Coldwell Banker

Coldwell Banker and the Washington Humane Society are teaming up for an adoption event on Saturday, June 18.

Enjoy an afternoon on the Washington Harbour and get a new furry friend in the process. A pet adoption drive will be held on Saturday June 18 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Washington Harbour, at the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office on K Street, thanks to a partnership between Coldwell Banker and the Washington
Humane Society
.

"One of Coldwell Banker’s agents is a WHS volunteer, which is how this event got started. They are committed to being a part of the community and helping to bring people and pets together to form families," Jacqueline Toppings, director of marketing and communications for the Humane Society, said.

The two organizations have teamed up in hopes of finding people houses and pets to help make them homes. Coldwell Banker, a real estate firm with properties in DC, suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia, encourages people to come out and meet workers from both organizations in addition to the animals.

“Since a lot of people consider a home to be incomplete without a pet, we thought the partnership of a residential real estate company and a humane society made perfect sense,” said Tom Bryan, branch vice president of Coldwell Banker in Georgetown.

“The goal of a Coldwell Banker agent is to help people find their dream homes. The goal of our adoption event is to find loving, lifelong homes for special dogs and cats. Helping to unite people, homes and pets is very rewarding. You save a life and enrich your own when you adopt a homeless pet.”

The Washington Humane society is excited about this event and their ability to bring both cats and dogs.

“We’ll have some cats and dogs come out and people can meet them and hopefully we’ll get some adoption papers signed and people can take some animals home,” Toppings said. “It’s great to be able to bring both.”

The Washington Humane Society is the only congressionally-chartered animal agency in the nation and has been around since 1870. Toppings said that the organization’s administrative offices are located in Palisades and that they offer a number of services in the Georgetown area.
