Readers' Choice Winner: Ella Rue

Ella Rue was the overwhelming favorite consignment boutique among voters this week.

We asked you what was your favorite consignment boutique in Georgetown and 63 percent of voters said Ella Rue.

Ella Rue recently moved into a larger space across the street from its original location on P Street, just one block off of Wisconsin Avenue.

Owner Krista Johnson said she tries to create a "no-pressure" environment and a sense of "community" in her shop at 3231 P St., NW.

"It's like going into a friend' s closet," she explained.

After graduating from college Johnson settled down in Georgetown, found friends and found a sense of community, she explained.

"I wanted to open a store in my community and that's Georgeotown," she explained.

Johnson said her consignment clients are both local and from farther afield. She receives items from New York City, Palm Beach and even London.

What is her favorite consignment shop in D.C.? Secondhand Rose on Wisconsin Avenue, also in Georgetown. Johnson said she shops there "all the time."

Next week we'll be doing another reader's choice contest. We need your input before Monday to decide which places to include on our list for "Best Place to Buy Sports Gear" Tell us in the comments, where you go for sportswear and gear in Georgetown.

Voting starts Monday, April 9 at 5 a.m. and ends next Friday, April 13 at 9 a.m.
