Ri Ra Irish Pub Coming to M Street

A chain of Irish pubs plans to open a Georgetown location in the former Mie N Yu space.

Ri Ra Irish Pub is bring a new restaurant to Georgetown's M Street. The pub will replace Mie N Yu, which closed at 3125 M St. NW in October.

"We've entered into a long-term commitment with this building and our hopes [sic] is to build an institution in the area," Ciaran Sheehan, one of the owners of Ri Ra, told the Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) Monday.

Sheehan said they want to make changes, like new signage, exterior painting and more that would create a new presence for the next 20 years.

There would be two bars total, neither of which would be on the roof. Right now the plan includes a proposal for a rooftop dining area, but the ANC expressed "severe reservations" about such a use.

The project is undergoing permit review for architectural elements and would return at a later time for discussions about the liquor license, including a more thorough discussion of the rooftop area.
