Get ready to take a bite out of crime for National Night Out next week.

The annual nationwide event promotes and educates on crime prevention. The DC Metropolitan Police Department and the Second District Police Station will participate in the national event.

There will be free car seat checks and installations, safety tips, McGruff the crime dog, food and ice cream. Stop by the Second District station (3320 Idaho Ave., NW) from 5 to 7 p.m. on August 7.
