Sprig & Sprout Closes After Opening Day
The Glover Park pho and sandwich shop posted an apologetic note on its closed door.

Tuesday, a day after Sprig & Sprout (2317 Wisconsin Ave.) opened in Glover Park, a sign on the locked door told customers the restaurant would not re-open until Friday and then with limited hours.
A note posted on the restaurant website and the front door stated:
"Nothing we did yesterday was comforting or smart, and since our principles are based on bringing you the best that we have Sprig & Sprout will reopen on Friday with limited hours."
The online note from the restaurant, which features Pho and Viet sandwiches, thanked the Glover Park community for its "overwhelming support" and apologized for a "lack of preparation."
One negative comment posted to their Facebook page sheds some light on just what happened:
"Boo. After all that waiting you guys ran out of food before we could order. If you had answered your phone, could have at least saved us the trip," Ri Das wrote just after 8 p.m. Monday.
Sprig & Sprout had opened its doors at 11 a.m. Monday.
Another commenter remarked on the high demand on opening day:
"Business was booming, there were way more people than I had expected that came in! Congratulations, hopefully business stays as good, but levels off a bit, that was too much business for an opening day!!! Regardless, the food was great and I'll certainly be stopping in again," Patrick Manuel wrote.
Patch heard back from Sprig & Sprout owner Jennifer Hoang about their false start. Read her email below:
"After our trial by fire opening day we quickly realized we needed to relook at our flow, and put some better systems in place. We decided it was better to take a few days to reorganize, than open with mediocre service and food below our standards. I know people would understand hiccups for the first few weeks of opening, and we still expect them, but we really did not like what was happening opening day on our end. It should NOT take anyone 30 minutes to get food...that's unacceptable to us.
We will reopen Friday 12/7 for Lunch only 11am- 4pm. Saturday 12/8 for Dinner only 5-10pm. Sunday 12/9 from 11-3:30 and 5:30 to 10pm. After that we will look at our employees and our setup to decide whether we will operate under full hours.
Speaking of employees we desperately need some evening help...
We still do anticipate growing pains, and it will take us a few weeks to find our groove, but everyone can expect we are working hard to bring them a good product."
