Stoddert Peacebuilders Visit U.S. Institute of Peace
Fifth grade students had lesson outside their Glover Park classroom at the Global Peacebuilding Center.
A fifth grade class from Glover Park's Stoddert Elementary recently visited the Global Peacebuilding Center at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) to learn about what they can do to create a more peaceful future in their communities and the world.
The visit was featured on the USIP website.
Stoddert teacher—and Patch blogger—Steve Dingledine helped several students create the Peacebuilders group.
Dingledine said he wanted to demonstrate to students that peace requires work.
"Conflict is a part of the world, like it or not, and it takes skilled action to make sure it doesn't cause too many problems or worse, violence. The students are about to go into situations in middle and high school that will require skilled action," Dingledine told Patch.
He wrote about their visit on the group's website.
