STREET LEVEL: Book Hill Glitters for the Holidays

A personal review of decorated windows on Book Hill this year!

What happened to the annual contest for Book Hill's finest holiday store window?  I have not seen it announced yet. Maybe I am early. But I love to compare the windows and whimsy of the merchants on upper Wisconsin Avenue.

So I decided to announce my own contest. Please see attached pictures of windows between P Street and R Street, both elegant and silly.  And see below some proposed categories. See if you agree with my opinions!

  • Most stylish newcomer? (f) Nectar
  • Most "reason for the season"? (c) Phoenix
  • Most warm and inviting? (d) Amano
  • Most romantic? (a) Hitched
  • Most hip? (b) Hugo Boss
  • Best in show? (g) Dog Shop
About this column: Being at street level means you can see all the comings and goings and changes that combine to give the Georgetown neighborhood its character and village feel. After all, the constant of Georgetown retail is change.
Which is your favorite decorated storefront on Wisconsin Avenue? Tell us in the comments.
