The Magic Wardrobe, a boutique children's clothing shop, is at 1661 Wisconsin Ave.

Update
October 16, 2012—The Magic Wardrobe owner Bridget Wilson told Patch this week that she did not agree with the amount listed in the Office of Tax and Revenue’s (OTR) documentation as owed by The Magic Wardrobe. Wilson told Patch that the business owed significantly less. According to a September 5th OTR e-mail, the Magic Wardrobe is on a payment plan. The shop reopened during the summer.

Original Post
July 23, 2012—The Magic Wardrobe is closed and its certificate of registration has been seized by the DC Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) because of $203,522.33 in unpaid sales and use and unincorporated taxes, dating back to 2008. OTR seized the certificate, shutting down the business, July 19.

As recently as July 6 the Georgetown store sent out a tweet, inviting customers to stop in for the 40% off summer sale."We have made multiple attempts to bring the taxpayer into compliance without success," wrote Natalie Wilson, a spokesperson for OTR, in an email to Patch Friday.

OTR filed liens against Magic Wardrobe, which will not be able to re-open until they satisfy the lien.Patch unsuccessfully attempted to contact Magic Wardrobe at both the Georgetown and Middleburg, Va. stores.

Patch left a voicemail at the Georgetown number, but the Virginia store's number was disconnected, changed or no longer in service, according to an automated Verizon message. Patch also submitted an inquiry through their website. No inquiries were returned as of late Sunday night.
