Thanks to a strong storm system that blew into town Saturday and blew out all of the muggy air that had been hanging around, the D.C. metro area will see pleasant weather all week.

That means lower temperatures and plenty of sunshine, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will reach the high 70s and low 80s and no rain is in the forecast through Sunday, according to the weather service. Lows will be in the "fall-like" mid-50s.

The Capital Weather Gang's Brian Jackson: "Temperatures couldn’t be more comfortable to begin the work week as daytime highs reach the upper 70s under sunny skies." 

WJLA's Bob Ryan tweeted Sunday that Monday morning temperatures may be the lowest the area will have seen since May.

As we move toward the first official day of fall on Sept. 22 at 10:49 a.m., the days becomes shorter. This week sunrise is at approximately 6:45 a.m., and sunset is at about 7:24 p.m.
