Casey Trees donates in and around Rose Park

Thank You Casey Trees!

Friends of Rose Park wants to thank Casey Trees and Trees for Georgetown for the 15 new trees which were planted in the east end on Saturday, November 12th.  These include 5 Yoshino Cherry Trees in Rose Park, at the far perimeter of the softball field, and 10 other trees planted in sidewalk/curb spaces on Dumbarton, O and P Streets.  Thank you to Casey Trees for organizing the volunteer effort to plant the trees and, as always, to Trees for Georgetown, the D.C. Department of Parks & Recreation and the D.C. Urban Forestry Administration for all partnership efforts which support increasing the tree canopy in our city.

Friends of Rose Park will care for/water the trees planted in and near Rose Park, but if you had a tree planted near your home, watering them over the next two years will help significantly.  Ooze bags will be placed at the base of the trees in the spring, and they can be filled up once a week allowing the new root systems to grow.

Thank you !!!
