Libertarian Presidential Candidate Presses the Flesh in DC

Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico, was in the District Monday evening garnering support for his candidacy in the upcoming presidential election.

He and about 50 supporters met outside of Java House coffee shop on 17th and Q Streets to spread his message and obtain signatures to secure a place on the ballot.

His platform consists mainly of traditional libertarian positions:

1) Abolishment of the IRS and income tax (consumption tax would gain primacy); 2) Vast reduction of foreign entanglements, and

3) ending the decades-long war on drugs.

More information on his positions can be found at www.garyjohnson2012.com/issues. The campaign received a boost today when US News and World Report suggested that Johnson is getting closer to getting into the presidential debates. He needs to obtain 15% support in a nationally recognized poll for that to happen.

Isn't it great to live in a city like DC where these types of events unfold serendipitously outside of your regular coffeehouse!?

Oops. That event happened serendipitously, not surreptiously! LOL

On the ballot for the Presidency, Gov. Gary Johnson (Libertarian) and Dr. Jill Stein (Green).

Make a special note to remember to watch the Free and Equal Election Debate between third party candidates, Gov. Gary Johnson and Dr. Jill Stein to be aired tonight on Monday evening, Nov. 5th from 9:00 - 10:30 pm Eastern Time. Perform a worthwhile civic duty, and be certain to listen in on this historic debate so that you can make an informed decision on voting day. Third party candidates who will be on the ballot in most states deserve to be heard.
