The Georgetown Real Estate Report

Georgetown Real Estate Report

Home buyers throughout the world know Georgetown. Its historic nature, community cohesiveness and urban lifestyle in a village setting all contribute to creating a neighborhood that buyers desire.

DC’s 2012 real estate market is rebounding and Georgetown’s market is feeling the positive effects. Low inventory ensures that properties priced right will move quickly.

This was reinforced recently during a meeting about the neighborhood’s real estate market held by the Citizens Association of Georgetown (CAG) at the newly re-opened Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place at Georgetown’s Washington Harbour.

A few high points from the evening’s talk:

Tom Anderson of Washington Fine Properties said that when buyers initially come to the DC market, they first look to Georgetown as the place they would like to live.

TTR Sotheby’s International Realty’s John Mashie outlined the community’s commitment to historic preservation, revealing the history of our country through architecture.

Margaret Heimbold from Long and Foster Companies spoke of the importance of preparing a “house history,” developing a personal relationship with the pedigree of one’s home. A future piece in the Georgetown Real Estate Report will focus on how to prepare such a report. It is a fascinating subject.

The Citizens Association of Georgetown has been instrumental in preserving and promoting community. (Find out more information about CAG by visiting cagtown.org.)

And by the way, Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place has been elegantly renovated and features an unbeatable water view.
