$20.00
The 4th Annual/2011 DC Design House is offering a "Bare Bones" Tour - a tour of the home before the area's top designers start their redesigning of the home inside and out - on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $20 with a $5 discount if you purchase your ticket (also $20) to tour the home during the finished showhouse opening dates - April 9 to May 8, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends. The DC Design House benefits Children's National Medical Center, raising more than $200,000 for the hospital last year.
This year's home is a 1925 12,000-square-foot English Country Tudor on an acre of land in Forest Hills, owned by the Wasserman family and on the market for $4.9 million. The late George Wasserman was a local businessman and philanthropic force in the community, including co-founding the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington. The home was originally built for Charles Woodward, founder of Woodward & Lothrop department store chain, and was the site of numerous high profile gatherings where movie stars, such as Kirk Douglas, politicians and dignitaries, such as Lady and Lord Balfour, attended.
