The farewell party for "The Georgetown" replica canal boat, which will soon be transported to Fletchers Cove and destroyed, is Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Lock 4 (between Thomas Jefferson and 31st Streets).
The invitation invites one and all to "Join the wake for the imminent departure and destruction of the canal boat The Georgetown."
Black balloons will be provided.

More About C&O Canal
The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal flows through the heart of Georgetown. This historic canal is comprised of a series of locks, some of which are still in use by the National Park Service. The towpath offers visitors a glimpse of what traffic used to be like in Georgetown.
