The first concert of the 2012 season is Sunday, May 20 and the theme is Pink and Green. This marks the 10th season of Concerts in the Parks run by the Citizens Association of Georgetown.

The “Pink and Green” theme will raise awareness for Breast Cancer and highlight the importance of living green. Concert-goers will be able to plant seedlings and decorate t-shirts. There will be information about DCs re-cycling program and local efforts in the fight against breast cancer. Wear your most inspired pink and green outfit for a chance to win a prize.

Back by popular demand -- Georgetown’s own amazing singer and song writer, Rebecca McCabe, will be performing her acoustic country and pop rhythms that have everyone singing along.

Concerts sponsor, Sprinkles has donated cupcakes, Häagen-Dazs will be giving away ice cream cones and the Ball or Nothing food truck will be on hand selling delicious gourmet meatballs.

Sprinkles will help get us in the Concerts mood May 14 – 18. They will be donating the proceeds on sales of our special Concerts Cupcake. So stop by the store and grab a couple dozen!

Volta Park at the intersection of 34th Street and Volta Place offers a pool in the summer, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, a baseball field and a playground.  The playground and sandbox are brimming with bigwheels, wagons and other children's toys; nearby benches offer seats for watchful parents.  The Friends of Volta Park support the upkeep of the grounds and offer programming to serve the community. Donations and the annual Volta Park Weekend fund the group's efforts.
