DC Accents - A Solo Exhibit by Sardar
On Thursday, August 23, L2 Lounge will be hosting artist Sardar presenting his the opening exhibit of his DC Accents series where all proceeds will be donated to Project Reclaim. Enjoy the luxury of L2 and the beautiful paintings while supporting this unique cause.
Project Reclaim’s mission is to help people reclaim their sense of
home. We collect unwanted and discarded furniture then refurbish and
repurpose it so people who have lost everything from fires, storm damage
and other disasters can reclaim the comfort of feeling at home as they
rebuild their lives. Project Reclaim launch date is set for September 6 and more details could be obtained at www.BtheG.org
During the exhibition L2 Lounge will offer drink specials that correspond with the artwork.
There will also be a Silent Auction (Sarˈdär's donated 4 artworks from this exhibition) to raise funds for "Project Reclaim". Further, 25% percentage of all art sales will be donated to Project Reclaim and all donations are tax deductible.
“With so many new mediums we are losing the essence of the uniqueness
and beauty of nature and people, especially in this digital age of using
more technology and looking less, it is harder to obtain the essence of
the subject, my paintings attempt to capture the life within the
fraction of a moment.”
Sardar was born in a small village in Pakistan in 1971. After studying
painting at the Lahore Arts Academy in 1995 he began painting
professionally. Sardar’s style was impressionist, using oil Paint and
pastels. He made a comfortable living off his painting for several years
before returning to school to study multimedia and graphic design.
Sardar studied photography and filmmaking, becoming one of the most
predominate directors in Pakistan, due to his skill with capturing
lighting and movement.
In 2007 he relocated to the United States and settled in the DC Metro
Area. He was awash in his new freedom of expression and the beauty of
the city and the country that surrounded it. He reflects on his first
experiences with snow and the flowering trees with awe and reverence for
their beauty. For three years Sardar absorbed the new beauty and culture
and combined it with his continued in depth study of light and movement.
His style evolved into a mix of impressionism and realism, using oil
paints, and painting much larger than previously.
2010 he painted his first painting since coming to the United States,
“Desire”. In the years that followed he continued to paint and refine
this new style. In 2012 he began to mix acrylic and oil paints allowing
him to truly capture the life within the fraction of a moment.
