Discover your inner artist and develop your curatorial eye in this workshop on close object-study and sketching with Tudor Place Curator of Collections Erin Kuykendall. Working directly with collections artifacts, participants learn hands-on how close observation leads to better understanding of objects' construction, materials, and design.

Instruction is provided and all drawing materials along with insights into object conservation at Tudor Place. Session one will focus on silver, two on ceramics, and three on glass; participants can attend one, two, or all three. No drawing experience necessary!

Tudor Place was built between 1805 and 1816 by the granddaughter of Martha Washington, Martha Custis Peter, and her husband Thomas Peter. The house was occupied by the Custis-Peter family until 1983 and retains a collection of objects owned by the Washingtons for display. Take advantage of the beautiful gardens by attending special events that include tea parties, picnics and outdoor yoga.
