Georgetown Poets, Inspiring Left-Handed Pianist and More

Five things to do and get you through your Thursday in and around Georgetown.


Poets on the Fringe at the Georgetown Library: A local poetry group will be giving free public readings at the Georgetown Neighborhood Library this Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Support local poets and get inspired at the library, 3260 R St., NW.

Career Talk on Making Moves and Driving Change: The Evermay Estate, 1623 28th Street, NW, will host Patrick Dowd, founder of the Millennial Trains Project, and Meaghan Rose, creator of RocksBox, as they discuss making bold changes in your career and believing in yourself. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event runs from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 and include cocktails and light hor douvres. Click here to RSVP. 

Be Inspired by Pianist at Millennium Stage: British-born pianist Nicholas McCarthy, who was born without his left hand, will perform on piano on the Millennium Stage at the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, 2700 F St., NW. He was the first left-handed pianist to graduate from the Royal College of Music in London since its founding. His free performance is part of the 2013 Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability (LEAD) Conference. Performance begins at 6 p.m.

Georgetown City Sports Run Club: Get your run on tonight at 6:30, starting from the Washington City Sports location at 3338 M St., NW. They provide lockers for you to stash your stuff while you sweat on the the streets and trails of DC.
