3 Minutes With Your Neighbor: Kelly Davis, Runner and Ice-Cream Eater

Meet your neighbor, neighbors.

Kelly Davis is a Georgetown neighbor with a lot on her plate — working in PR, running for charity and ... ice cream.

We caught up with her to ask a few questions. Have a neighbor you think others would like to meet? Email Todd.Richissin@Patch.com.

What's your morning routine?
Every morning I hit the snooze button about three times! Then I finally get up and watch the morning news while I get ready for work. On my way to the office, I grab a hot tea and some breakfast to enjoy while I read the Washington Post when I get to work.

What do you do for a living? And what's the best thing about your job?
I am the media manager at CommunicationWorks, a PR firm focused on bettering education. I love knowing that I'm working on issues that affect children, families, and communities across the country. Also, my coworkers are smart, funny, and inspiring and I love the work family we've created.

What's the hardest?
I think positive, human interest stories are the ones that make an impact on people's lives, but with newsrooms smaller and reporters' time shorter, it's hard to break through the competing messages to get these stories out there.

How long have you lived here?
Since August 2011, so a little more than two and a half years.

What's your favorite thing about living here?
People move here to make a difference. It's nice to be surrounded by that. I've met some amazing people through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team-in-Training. Hearing people's motivations for running and raising money to fight cancer makes training for a half-marathon a little easier.

If you had to arrange a secret meeting here, where would you have it?
At night in the fields around the Monument - House of Cards style.

Tell us something about yourself that most of your neighbors don't know.
If I'm listening to the Hairspray soundtrack on the way to work I have to stop myself from breaking out in to a musical theater style dance in the middle of the street.

When you want a really indulgent snack here, where do you go and what do you get?
Ice Cream. Believe it or not, Potbelly Sandwich Shop makes a fantastic fudge sunday!

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
To be stubborn and stand up for my morals and values, serve my community, work hard, and to love my family unconditionally, but most of all to be strong in the face of adversity and stand up for what is right.

What are you doing after the interview?
Getting back to work after my lunch break.
