Capital Pride 2013: Parade Route, Street Closures, Full Schedule and More

Capital Pride 2013 will take over the streets of Dupont Circle and 14th Street Saturday.

The Capital Pride 2013 celebration takes over DC this weekend, including the 38th Annual Capital Pride Parade Saturday. A dance festival will begin at noon and run until midnight; the parade begins at 4:30 p.m. and ends at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The 38th annual parade will feature 170 contingents-floats, vehicles, walkers, entertainment and more made up of local businesses, politicians, drag queens, , community groups and more.

This year's Super Grand Marshal is Lynda Carter, best known for her portrayal of Wonder Woman.

Parade Route:

The parade begins at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at 23rd and P streets NW and moves east on P Street toward Dupont Circle. The route then heads northeast on New Hampshire Avenue, turns east on R Street and moves south on 17th Street. The route then returns to P Street from the east, eventually turning north on 14th Street. This year the parade adds a few more blocks of the 14th Street corridor, ending at 14th and S streets.

Street Closures

Pride parade staging areas will close at 1 p.m. The Pride parade route closures will begin at 4:30 p.m. Street closures will remain in effect until 9:30 p.m.:

  • 23rd Street NW between Q Street and N Street (Staging Area)
  • 22nd Street NW between Q Street and N Street ( Staging Area)
  • N Street NW between 22nd Street and 25th Street
  • M Street NW between 22nd Street and 25th Street

The following closures will be in effect from noon until midnight for the Pride Dance Festival:

  • Church Street NW from 16th Street to 18th Street
